The Mizzi Organisation, that has vast business interests, has disassociated itself from the statement made by its own chairperson, Maurice Mizzi, on the City Centre project.

On Monday, Mizzi issued a statement in his public role as Guardian for Future Generations, lambasting the project and the absence of a masterplan for the St George’s Bay area. The project proposed by the db Group includes a 38-storey residential tower, commercial outlets and a Hard Rock Hotel.

But Mizzi’s dual role as Guardian for Future Generations and chairperson of the Mizzi Organisation has forced the company to distance itself from the statement against the project proposed by the db Group.

“Mizzi Organisation disassociates itself from that statement and the fact that it was issued under the signature of its Chairman Chev. Maurice Mizzi, who is also a director in the said Mizzi Organisation,” the statement read.

The company emphasised that Mizzi’s statement “should not be construed as reflecting the position of the Mizzi Organisation”.

The Mizzi Organisation’s business interests include car importation, hospitality, real estate, gaming and retail outlets.
