He parked his car next to the bring-in site, opened the booth and started throwing the garbage bags onto the pavement next to the bins.

The man thought he could get away with it but was caught in the act by security cameras and has now been fined.

The incident happened at 7.20pm in the San Ġwann t’Għuxa area in Bormla five days ago and the man, who was identified through the car’s number plate, was fined a whopping €2,329.

It is illegal to dump waste outside the bins in bring-in sites, a practice adopted by many people.

Only recently plans were announced for the rehabilitation of the San Ġwann t’Għuxa area and the local council and cleansing and maintenance division have stepped up efforts to ensure no illegal dumping occurs in the area.
