Inmate at Corradino found unconscious, dies at Mater Dei

An inmate at the Corradino Correctional Facility has died after being found unconscious in his cell. 

The prisoner was given first-aid by prison officials until an ambulance arrived and took him to Mater Dei Hospital, where he was later certified dead. 

The prisoner had earlier requested medication as he was not feeling well. 

Police investigations are ongoing.

A magisterial inquiry is underway. 

An internal investigation has also been initiated.
