Nationalist Party (PN) leader Adrian Delia has defended PN supporters involved in a brawl with Labour Party supporters during Friday’s live recording of Xarabank.

The loud and heated commotion erupted inside the Xarabank studios on Friday evening with several members of the audience getting out of their seats on the stand during a commercial break.

“Labour supporters insulted and attacked our people, and what did they expect? For us not to defend our people? Yes, we’ll speak out and make our voices heard and no one will shut us up,” Delia said while speaking during a political activity on Sunday.

He said it was clear that Labour’s strategy was to have people disrupt Delia from the audience and that while Labour media was reporting that a person close to the PN had attacked people, this was not the case.

Delia insisted that the footage which has so far been made available had been edited and omitted the provocation by the Labour supporters.

The cause of the argument is not yet clear, with both parties’ media looking to pin the blame on the other side, but a video released by MP Silvio Schembri, whose father was allegedly involved in the brawl, shows one Delia’s security personnel pushing people onto their seats during the argument.
