Theme park ride in China kills six
Six people have been killed and ten others injured in an amusement park accident in China on Tuesday in the coastal city of Shenzen
The accident occurred on the Space Journey simulator ride, at overseas China Town east theme park, where the ride plunged 50ft to the ground. Five of the injured ten people are in serious condition.
The amusement ride works by elevating and spinning 11 cabins, each with a carrying capacity of 4 people. One cabin may have come loose during the high velocity spin, and hit other surrounding cabins before plunging to the ground.
People who were on the ride and survived the accident said there was a power cut and loud explosion shortly before the ride dropped.
The exact cause of the accident is not yet known.
