Before the surgery

During the surgery 

The liposuction procedure is performed under general anaesthesia. The surgery takes place for approximately one to four hours, depending on the area and how much fat needs to be removed. Before and after the surgery, the surgeon will take photos to compare the area where the liposuction took place. 

After the surgery

After the operation, experiencing pain in the affected area/s, swelling and bruising are all normal for the first few days. They are expected to increase slightly before they improve. Some drains will be placed underneath the skin to help remove any unwanted fluid. 

Numbness in the affected area/s is also very common and the feeling will return to normal over time. 

Refraining from any intense exercise three weeks after the procedure is important. Light exercise is fine, but only after two weeks. The patient is required to take one week off before returning to their usual life and daily routine, to help aid in the healing process.
