MediaToday Co. Ltd is seeking journalists with a knowledge and appreciation of current affairs, national politics and social issues. 

Candidates must be able to communicate and write in excellent Maltese and English.

The role involves investigating, reporting from press conferences, interviewing people in authority, providing rapid copy in translation from English to Maltese of press releases and statements, developing contacts, staying abreast of important stories, and generating stories of human interest.

Candidates who display an ability to harness the opportunities of online reporting - use of social media, using mobile phone photography, producing first-draft copy for online consumption - will be given preference. Good TV presence is a plus.

Requirements:

•          Excellent command of the Maltese and English languages, written and spoken

•          Willingness to learn on skills, some HTML coding; and emulate best practices in online reporting

•          Good writing skills

•          Keen interest in legal and business affairs, and social issues

•          Passion, drive and initiative

•          Ready to go beyond the call of duty and deliver top-quality copy against time contraints.

VACANCY: DIGITAL MARKETING EXECUTIVE – FULL TIME

A fantastic opportunity to be part of the advertising and digital marketing strategy of a leading English-language online news portal.

As digital marketing executive you will be responsible to implement a variety of strategies and tactics from content marketing, data profiling, email marketing, provide digital support for advertising, develop and implement search engine optimisation strategies and help manage social media platforms including Facebook and Twitter.

RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO:

Co-Administer the website;

Monetise the website by encouraging clients to sponsor stories and place adverts; 

Manage the technological end of the online news portal by liaising between the IT support unit and editorial and advertising, and learning to solve problems on own-initiative as they develop;

Provide support to advertising by providing keyword research, web statistics reporting to editorial;

Using web analytics software to monitor performance and make recommendations for improvement;

Researching new online media opportunities that may benefit the business including mobile and social media;

liaising with digital advertising agencies and keeping up to date with current digital trends;

Providing accurate reports and analysis to clients and company management to demonstrate effective return on investment;

Creating copy and data for the organisation’s marketing efforts with potential clients;

Develop opportunities for brand awareness on social media: knowledge of designing of website banners and visuals will be a plus. 

REQUIREMENTS:

•      Knowledge of existing and emerging social media platforms, SEO, and Google Analytics

•      Strong verbal communication skills: an honest, straightforward relationship with the managing editor in Maltese and English will be key to your success.

•      Written communication skills necessary for marketing content, attention to detail when communicating with clients and partners.

•      Ability to work independently and under pressure, prioritise multiple jobs as they develop, and meet deadlines.

•      Creative skills to develop ideas, organisational know-how to handle multiple jobs.

•      Teamwork skills: you will liaise with managers in both advertising and editorial departments.

VACANCY: SALES EXECUTIVE

JOB DESCRIPTION: MediaToday is an independent publishing house. MT is seeking the services of experienced SALES EXECUTIVES on a full time or part time basis with experience in sales with a local media house or marketing agency.  Preference will be given to those applicants who are outgoing and who have experience in selling advertising in print and audiovisual medium are essential. The job offer comes together with a salary and an attractive commission structure. 

The applicant must be in a possession of car licence and a car. Applicants who do not have a car need not apply.
