Birkirkara secure their third victory against a spirited Ħamrun side

Cain Attard and James Brincat cancelled out Haruna Garba’s equaliser as Birkirkara recorded a 2-1 win over Ħamrun Spartans.

Birkirkara went ahead after twelve minutes. Cain Attard went on the right flank and fired a low shot that ended up behind David Cassar.

On the half hour mark, Cassar had to be on the alert to deny Vito Plut. The Slovenian fired a shot that was blocked by the Ħamrun goalkeeper. From the rebound, Plut saw his effort ending up wide.

On the 34th minute, Ħamrun were close when Jake Grech fired a shot from a free kick that went slightly over.

Ħamrun pushed for an equaliser and their efforts paid off on the 39th minute. Leandro Motta found Haruna Garba, who went past Nicola Vukanac and finished behind Miroslav Kopric.

The stripes hit back and had a golden opportunity on the 60th minute. Frank Temile’s delivery found Plut, whose effort hit the post.

Drazen Besek’s side managed to score the winning goal on the 78th minute. Temile sent a cross inside the penalty area that was met by substitute James Brincat who slotted the ball behind Cassar.
