Floriana bounce back with a fine win over neighbours Valletta

Floriana had a good opportunity to score after seventeen minutes. From a free kick, Maurizio Vella tried his luck, but saw his effort ending up centimetres wide of the post.

The greens went ahead on the 31st minute. Amadou Samb fired a stunner from the outside of the penalty area that gave Henry Bonello no chance.

On the 40th minute, Floriana had another chance on goal when Samb went on the right flank and delivered the ball towards Steve Pisani. The twenty-four year old sent a shot on goal that forced a good save from Bonello.

Valletta responded on the 45th minute through Jhonnattann Benites who went inside the penalty area before firing a shot that ended up off target.

Ten minutes into the second half, Jhonnattann went close once more. The Brazilian ran inside the penalty area and sent a shot that went centimetres wide of the post.

On the 65th minute, the Citizens had another chance when Federico Falcone received the ball inside the penalty area and attempted a header that ended up high.

Three minutes later, Floriana doubled the score through Mario Fontanella. The Italian received the ball on the edge of the penalty area and fired a strong shot past Bonello inside the bottom corner.

Valletta ended the match with ten men after Leandro Aguirre was sent off by Trustin Farrugia Cann in the additional time.
