ASMK at Ta’ Qali and Trials at l-Ahrax on Sunday

‘Assocjazzjoni Sport Muturi u Karozzi’ (ASMK) will be very busy next Sunday 19th May 2013 as the Moto Trials sections will be held at l-Ahrax Quarry l/o Mellieha. Signs will indicate the area.

The Ta Qali events for Autocross (Malta and Gozo drivers) including the Motocross events start at noon. The Motocross sections A and B will be competing for their last event of this season on Sunday while there are three more events to go for all the Autocross classes.

The Autocross Class A championship is now open again between two leading competitors. During the last event Patrick Cassar driving an Opel Corsa almost lost all his championship lead due to a mechanical failure. He is starting next race with a single point ahead of Christian Galea on a Fiat Ritmo. 3rd placed in the championship scale is Vince Farrugia on a VW Polo but the battle for the points is between the two leaders.

Malcolm Borg on an Opel Corsa lead Autocross Class B to date. He is closely followed by Mario Scicluna on an Opel Corsa with a 2 points gap to Borg. Ryan Scerri on an Opel holds 3rd overall in this popular class.

Trials biker Damon Bonello riding a Montesa leads the classification in Class A. Damon has gained 88 points to the 77 points of runner-up Gary Debono on a Sherco. There are 2 more events to go to the end of the championship.

Young Rowen Bonello rides a GasGas and is leading Class B with 97 points. Manuel Camilleri on a Beta is runner-up with 81 points. Next event might change the positions among the riders.

The Motocross Class A championship leaders are Camilleri Clayton on a KTM ahead of Paul Muscat on another KTM and Carmel Borg on a Suzuki. Yet, Class B leader and championship winner is Trever Muscat riding a KTM and has won with 172 points. Brandon Cassar Muscat riding a Yamaha is runner-up to Trever with 139 points. Gozo rider Joseph Bigeni riding a Suzuki RMZ is 3rd overall with 131 points.

Domenic Zammit is leading the Competitive Gozo Autocross class with 61 points. Christian Apap who started Autocross racing quite recently is runner-up with 57 points on his Ford Escort Mk 2. Marvic Vassallo also on another Ford Escort is placed 3rd overall so far with 40 points.

On Saturday 18th May ASMK will be holding the Practice sessions for cars and bikes as from 2.00pm. More information can be obtained from www.asmk.org.mt
