Triathlon Malta with a solid team at the European Triathlon Championships in Austria

A solid team of eight athletes will be partecipating in the European Triathlon Championships to be held this weekend in the Tyrolean mountain location of Kitzbuhel, Austria.

The team will be composed by some of Malta's topmost triathletes together with some other Age-Groupers who will be racing in Europe's most important Triathlon event of the the season.

In the Male category, National Triathlon & Duathlon Champion Keith Galea will join forces with the in-form Graham Borg. Both Galea and Borg will be facing some very strong competition in their categories from strong professional athletes hailing from all over the continent.

The Female team will be composed of 6 athletes. Current National Triathlon Champion Michelle Vella-Wood will be racing side by side current National Duathlon Champion, Danica Bonello-Spiteri. Other National Team members Margaret Seguna and Hannah Pace will be facing some stiff competition. Pace will be hoping in a repeat of last year's Gold Medal in the same competition which was organised in Turkey.

Joining the National Team members will be the evergreen Suzanne Farrugia and Angele Cremona, who dominated the Triathlon Malta scene in the first part of the 90s.

The TRIMLT team will be coordinated by President Cyprian Dalli who will be also attending the European Triathlon Union's Annual General Congress across the weekend.

'Our strong partecipation in this most important European Triathlon event is a clear sign of our vision to take Triathlon in Malta one step higher', said Dalli. 'Our partecipation two years ago was only with 2 athletes, which then went up to 5 athletes last year. This year, we are proud to field eight of our most committed and dedicated national triathletes in Austria, and we are looking forward to see some very promising performances. From the administration point of view, this will prove another golden opportunity to strengthen our relations with our continental counterparts and with the triathlon governing body in Europe' concluded on a positive note Dalli.

The races will be hosted in one of the most important sporting locations in Central Europe, with world-class skiing venues  and with a Triathlon tradition dating back to decades.



The TRIMLT team will be in action on Sunday 22 June, while to competitions will be spanning all days between 19 and 22 June.
