Hannah Pace wins third race of 2017 Sicily Triathlon Series

Current national triathlon champion Hannah Pace has just returned from producing a fine showing in the third race of the 2017 Sicily Triathlon Series held in Cefalu, Sicily.

Pace’s season has mainly see her race with French team Brive Limousin Triathlon, in the Grand Prix F.F.TRI. de Duathlon in France. 

The Sprint Distance race started off with a wetsuit legal swim. Although having given particular focus to racing duathlons throughout the winter, Pace, nevertheless had a good swim which saw her being the third female entering into transition, one minute behind the leading female.   Confidence on the bike resulted in Pace catching up the second female immediately out on the bike course, and by the third lap, out the required six, Pace had caught up with the leader and breaking away to lead the pack.  The hard effort put into the bike segment did not result in any setbacks for Pace who pulled off a solid run to complete the race in 58 minutes 1 second and beating the rest of the female competitors in the process. 

“Lately my focus has been on duathlons. I have also changed the structure of my training in all three disciplines so wasn’t sure what to expect, as I still feel that my body is adapting to this change. It was definitely a solid start to the triathlon season and a good build up to the forthcoming European championships, which will take place in June and where I will be competing in both sprint and standard distances” commented Pace.  “I am grateful towards the support that I receive from Garmin Malta, Go & Fun Malta, Team Barry Malta International Challenge Marathon and the Malta Triathlon Federation”.

Newcomer to triathlon Celine Pace also took part in the race and placed first in her Age Group Category.
