Rio de Janeiro (dpa) - Colombian singer Shakira didn't want to make a prediction, and yearned for the return of Paul the superstar "psychic octopus" while Wyclef Jean expects Germany to beat Argentina in the World Cup final on Sunday.

Shakira and Haiti-born American rapper Wyclef are to perform at a short closing ceremony ahead of the final at the Maracana, along with Carlos Santana and Brazilians Ivete Sangalo, Carlinhos Brown and Alexandre Pires.

But the stars were largely tight-lipped on Saturday when asked who would win the World Cup.

"I only pray to God that we don't go to penalties," said Shakira, who is the partner of Barcelona and Spain defender Gerard Pique.

"Where is the octopus? Paul was so useful in 2010. We need an octopus," she joked.

The Germany-based octopus Paul, who is now dead, was the "secret star" of the 2010 tournament in South Africa, predicting the result of matches accurately by choosing food from containers placed under national flags. Paul even got the result of the final right - Spain beat the Netherlands.

Wyclef, who has been active on Twitter throughout the tournament, was the only of the performers who openly sided with one team.

"I love Argentina but my prediction is that Germany is going to win the World Cup. I am supporting the German side," he said.
