Three recipes to make your Halloween scarier

When Halloween comes around, it is always more fun to make your own Halloween candy

The rise of the internet has given us festivities we would have otherwise never celebrated. Halloween is one and this is a great time to get creative in the kitchen.

Ordinary recipes can be transformed into spooky treats that go down just as well at adult parties as they do at kids’ ones.

Bloody milkshakes

These simple vanilla milkshakes use strawberry puree to give them a bloody look. The eyeball candy gives them that extra special spook factory. Don’t worry about being neat and tidy with these, the messier they are the more they look like they came out of a mad scientist’s lab.

Spider web cupcakes

These chocolate chip and orange cupcakes can be made for any occasion. The topping, however gives them a special Halloween feel. Made with dark and white melted chocolate, the toppings are given a spidery effect by simply dragging a toothpick from the centre to the side of the cupcake. Decorate with spiders and you’ve got yourself some scary snacks.

Strawberry ghosts

Chocolate covered strawberries find themselves in vogue more on Valentine’s day than at Halloween, however with a little bit of creativity they can be transformed into spooky treats.
