Runs, donations and charity work for Movember campaign

Meridianbet and iSoftBet have joined forces and hosted a 5km run and made a generous donation to Dar Bjorn

November is coming to a close and as part of the Movember campaign, Meridianbet joined iSoftBet's campaign to organise a five kilometre run on Għajn Tuffieħa Bay, or as many know it as Riviera Bay. Celebrating the success of the campaign for men’s health charity, the companies have sought to raise no less than a €10,000 donation.

The main event of the month was the run, which was led by athlete Steve Sammut Nurminen from movewithsteve, who is an ultra-runner, high-intensity interval trainer and a brand ambassador for Meridianbet.

In addition to the main event, Meridianbet, leading and global provider of sports betting software and solutions, extended the charity programme with an additional contribution towards Dar Bjorn, a residential community home that caters for those with MS, ALS and other neurological conditions.

Nir Elbaz, CEO of iSoftBet said: “Meridianbet has a broad presence in several key markets and we’re delighted to partner with them as we continue our international growth. It was such a great initiative to join forces in supporting charity causes such as Movember and Dar Bjorn and would like to thank them for their contributions.”

Stefan Pavlovic, Head of Operations at MeridianBet, said: “iSoftBet is a great commercial partner and we really value their corporate agenda. It is such a meaningful initiative we’ve collaborated on which allows us to support local charity Dar Bjorn. Catering to people with ALS, MS and other neurological conditions and aiming to improve the quality of their lives, Dar Bjorn is a truly special cause that deserves all the exposure we can bring to it.”

What is Movember all about?

Without a shadow of a doubt, you have come across the word ‘Movember’ in the last few months and no, it’s not a spelling mistake. Movember is, in fact, a leading charity that focuses on changing the face of men’s health on a global scale. The focus of the Movember campaign worldwide is primarily prostate and testicular cancer, as well as mental health and suicide prevention.

In the same vein, you may have also noticed that many men are growing out their moustaches during the month of November. This is not a mere coincidence. As part of the Movember campaign, many grow out their facial hair and moustaches to raise awareness of men’s health issues, hence the name!
