Alfred Sant’s novel Snow on Comino released in English

Snow on Comino, the English translation of Silġ fuq Kemmuna by Alfred Sant, is being published and made available to readers for the first time in English.

Originally written between 1970 and 1973 and first published in 1982, the novel is widely considered one of the defining works of modern Maltese fiction. The new edition, released under the Quinque label, marks the first time the work has been fully made available to English-speaking audiences.

Set in Malta during a period of rapid social and cultural transformation, Snow on Comino follows a group of young adults navigating ambition, relationships, and uncertainty as traditional structures give way to modern pressures. The narrative is noted for its sharp dialogue and psychological depth, offering a portrait of a generation caught between continuity and change.
