Eurovision 2026: Aidan makes it through to Saturday's grand final

Malta is through to the grand final of the Eurovision Song Contest in Vienna after Aidan delivered a strong performance of 'Bella' in the second semi-final on Thursday night.

Aidan was the 14th of 15 acts to take the stage at the Wiener Stadthalle, finishing the second-to-last slot in a fiercely competitive line-up. His performance was among the ten selected to advance to Saturday's final.

The 26-year-old singer-songwriter has been on a lengthy road to Eurovision, having first competed in Malta's national selection back in 2018. He won this year's Malta Eurovision Song Contest with 'Bella'.

Thursday's semi-final was decided by a combined jury and televote, a return to the dual-voting format not seen at the semi-final stage since Turin 2022. An additional "Rest of the World" online vote also counted as one extra country.

The ten finalists from tonight will join the ten who qualified from Tuesday's first semi-final, as well as the Big Five, Britain, France, Germany, Italy, and hosts Austria, who all hold guaranteed spots in Saturday's 25-country final.
