The operators of a Marsa shipyard have submitted a planning application to set up a padel court on a floating barge moored beside their premises.

The application (PA/03622/26), submitted by Cassar Ship Repair through Anthony Cassar, proposes installing a barge at the company's Slip No. 6 in Triq is-Salib tal-Marsa, with the works described simply as a barge for padel.

The application, drawn up by architect Alistair Avallone, was received by the Planning Authority on 21 April 2026.

The case falls outside the development boundary and is currently awaiting a case officer's recommendation, with a target date of 3 October 2026.

The application was published on 10 June.

The application features glass walls topped with a steel mesh, reaching a total height of 3.66 meters, transforming the project from a barge into an open-top coastal structure.
