Travel alert: Italian strike threatens Air Malta flights tomorrow

Air Malta will be rescheduling flights to Italy, Amsterdam and Manchester if a strike by airport workers across Italy is called tomorrow

A strike by Italian airport workers ATC has been declared in Italy for tomorrow Friday 25 June, from 10am to 2pm local time. This strike will affect Air Malta flights KM612/3 Malta/Reggio/Rome return, KM628/9 Malta/Milan/Malta and KM638/9 Malta/Torino/Malta.

In the event that the strike will materialise, Air Malta will operate its flights as follows: Passengers travelling to Reggio Calabria will be accommodated on KM1308 departing Malta at 9:15am hours local time. Passengers booked to travel to Rome are being offered to travel on KM614 to Rome which is planned to operate as per normal schedule departing Malta at 6:15pm hours local time

The Amsterdam/Malta flight KM397 will pick up passengers coming to Malta from Rome leaving Fiumicino airport at 2:25pm hours local time. Consequently, Air Malta flight to Manchester KM146/7 will leave Malta at 5:45pm hours local time.

Air Malta flights to and from Torino KM638/9 has been rescheduled to leave Malta at 8:45pm hours local time.  Due to rotation of aircraft the Malta/Palermo flight KM668/9 will depart at 10:20pm hours local time.

In the eventuality that this ATC strike is called off, the above-mentioned flights will operate as per original schedule, Air Malta said.

KM626 to Milan has been rescheduled to depart Malta at 7:50am local time to enable the aircraft to land before strike action commences. KM627 from Milan will leave Malpensa airport as soon as strike action is over at 2:10am hours local time.  These timings will still stand should the strike action is withdrawn.
