Emirates and Qantas celebrate with a flyover

Emirates and Qantas marked the official start of their partnership with a flyover of Sydney Harbour by a Qantas A380 and an Emirates A380 at a height of 1,500 feet on Sunday morning.

The partnership, which received approval from the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) on 27 March, will provide customers with a seamless international and Australian network, frequent flyer benefits and world-class travel experiences.

The flyover was watched from the Sydney Opera House by Tim Clark, President Emirates Airline, Alan Joyce, Chief Executive Officer of Qantas; along with members of the public who had gathered around the harbour.

Later in the day, the first Qantas flights departed from Sydney and Melbourne to London via the international hub of Dubai on Sunday.

Emirates flies daily from Dubai to Malta via Larnaka, Cyprus using a Boeing 777-200 aircraft.
