Five arrested in connection with alleged drug trafficking

Five people have been arrested by the Police following an investigation and surveillance of a residence in Manikata, in connection with alleged drug trafficking and possession.

Investigations carried out revealed that the residence was being used for criminal activities related to drugs.

Surveillance revealed suspicious movements at certain times of the day, with individuals seen cultivating various plants believed to be cannabis.

On Tuesday, the Police conducted an operation at this residence, resulting in five arrests: three Romanian men, aged 37, 37, and 39; a 36-year-old Lebanese man; and a 30-year-old Italian woman.

During the search, a large variety of drugs were discovered, including MDMA tablets, ecstasy, LSD, cocaine, and cannabis resin and plants. Cash and electronic devices were also seized.

Police investigations into this case are still ongoing, and Magistrate Philip Galea Farrugia is leading an inquiry.

Later today, at around noon, they are expected to appear before the Court before Magistrate Yana Micallef Stafrace.
