Police arrest man allegedly involved in drug trafficking

A 36-year-old Serbian man has been arrested following an investigation into suspected drug trafficking.

The man was arrested on Friday in Birkirkara following surveillance in connection with alleged drug trafficking

During the surveillance on Friday, the Police noticed a person approaching a vehicle that the accused was in and after suspicious contact, he was arrested.

Officers found his vehicle contained a number of sachets suspected to be cocaine while a search of residence turned up sachets of alleged cannabis, which the police say were ready for trafficking with a street value of approximately €11,500, as well as an amount of cash.

The man was arraigned in court today before Magistrate Jean Paul Grech.
