Four-year-old girl left with grievous injuries after Mellieħa crash
The incident happened at around 11pm, when a woman crashed her car into a pole and ended up on the opposite carriageway
A four-year-old girl has been hospitalised and left with grievous injuries following a traffic accident in Triq il-Manikata, Mellieħa, on Friday night.
Police were called to the scene at around 11pm after being informed that assistance was needed.
On arrival, officers found that a Suzuki Swift, driven by a 28-year-old woman from Santa Venera, had crashed into a pole before ending up in the opposite carriageway.
As a result, the Suzuki collided with a bus, driven by a 48-year-old man from San Pawl il-Baħar, and a Mercedes Sprinter van, driven by a 33-year-old man from the same locality.
A medical team was called to the scene and treated the woman as well as a four-year-old girl who had been travelling as a passenger in her car.
Both were taken to Mater Dei Hospital by ambulance, where the girl was later certified as having suffered grievous injuries, while the woman was not injured.
Police investigations into the incident are ongoing.
