An 18-year-old woman from Paola has died in hospital after a car crash in Qormi last week.
According to a police statement, a 20-year-old lost control of a Renault Clio and crashed into a barrier in Triq tal-Bajjada, Qormi.
The crash happened on 21 August 2026, at around 8:15pm, and police were informed that a road traffic accident had occurred in Triq tal-Bajjada, Qormi.
When officers arrived on the scene, they found that a 20-year-old man from Birkirkara had lost control of his Renault Clio and crashed into a barrier.
An 18-year-old woman from Paola was in the car with him.
Both were given medical assistance at the scene and taken to Mater Dei Hospital by ambulance.
Days later, the police say the woman's condition worsened, and she was later confirmed to have died.
The case has been reported to Magistrate Dr Joe Mifsud LL.D., who has opened an inquiry.
Police investigations into the crash are continuing.
