A woman has died and her husband is in critical condition after being stabbed by what appears to be a screwdriver during a family altercation on Thursday.

The woman was aged 72, while the man is aged 74.

Sources who spoke to this newspaper said their son believed to be the prime suspect in police investigations.

The commotion followed an argument that appears to have developed at around 2:40pm between two men at a residence in Mqabba. The son allegedly fled the site of the incident.

The man is currently hospitalized following his injuries.
