Drunken night ends with stabbing

Bulgarian national handed suspended jail term after he stabbed a friend with whom he had just finished drinking.

A challenge between drunk friends resulted in one being stabbed in the leg and another being charged in court.

44-year-old Bulgarian national, Petko Krushkov, was accused of causing slight injuires to a friend with whom he had just spent the night drinking.

At the end of their charading night, an argument started between the Bulgarian friends. During the argument the accused brandished a knife thinking the victim would be scared. instead the victim regarded this as a challenge to fight.

Claiming that details of the incident are unclear because all those involved were drunk, the prosecution explained how the victim was taken to the police station by his friends. he entered the station with blood running down his legs claiming he had been stabbed.

Magistrate Natasha Galea Scibberas sentenced Krushkov to eight months' imprisonment suspended for four years.

Lawyer Malcolm Mifsud appeared for the accused.
