Two charged with stealing from supermarket
Court places two young thieves under probation who pleaded guilty to charges of theft.
Two young men were placed under a two-year probation order after pleading guilty to stealing from the Lidl supermarket in Santa Venera.
Clayton Spiteri, 26 of Zabbar and Dario Camilleri, 27 of Qrendi admitted to stealing over €3000 from the Lidl shop.
The two were apprehended on 23 August, however the theft had been ongoing for a number of months.
Magistrate Antonio Micallef Trigona placed Spiteri and Camilleri under a two year probation term and ordered that each of them pays back €1,500 in damages. The money has to be repaid within a year.
Inspectors Geoffrey Azzopardi and Robert Vella prosecuted while lawyers Carm Mifsud Bonnici and Joseph Arrigo appeared for the accused.
