Woman charged with attempted theft of wallet

Mariyana Kirilova Petrova, 21 of Bulgaria, was handed a suspended sentence after pleading guilty to petty theft.

Inspector Kylie Borg held that the Bulgarian national who has no fixed address, attempted to steal the wallet belonging to Carmen Colombo.

The wallet contained the victim's bankcards and €80 in cash. The officer informed the court that the accused collaborated with the police and admitted to the charges.

Magistrate Neville Camilleri handed Petrova a month's jail term suspended for a year.
