Man used stolen tax disk to evade car license
Court hears how a man from Birkirkara stole a tax disk from a stolen vehicle to avoid paying his license and insurance.
Stephen Borg, 36 of B'Kara was today arraigned in court over charges of using a stolen road licence disk and breaching bail conditions.
Inspector Carol Fabri explained to the court how Borg stole a tax disk belonging to a Mercedes and used it on his BMW.
He was also charged with driving his vehicle without insurance cover and a valid driving license, breaching bail conditions and relapsing.
The theft of the tax disk happened in Qormi on 24 August however when the police investigated which vehicle the tax disk belongs to it resulted that the Mercedes was reported stolen on 19 August, five days before the investigations. Police searches for the vehicle have returned negative results.
Borg pleaded guilty to all charges. Inspector Carol Fabri prosecuted.
Magistrate Antonio Micallef Trigona put off the case for 12 September for sentencing.
