Updated | Two men arrested following two kilo cannabis find

Two men arrested after being found in possession of two kilograms of cannabis in the vicinity of a school in Tarxien.

Two men have been arrested after they were found to be in possession of two kilograms of cannabis resin.

Informed sources explained that the men, aged 31 and 32 and from Paola and Tarxien respectively, were arrested in Triq Kelinu Cachia, Tarxien on Saturday afternoon at around 4:30pm.

Sources close to the investigation explained that Drug Squad personnel had been informed of a possible case of simple possession and consequently, sought to investigate the matter.

Police then spotted the men meeting at a garage in Tarxien, during which one of the men is suspected to have passed on his partner in crime a bag purported to contain drugs.

Upon spotting this, police swooped in and arrested the men before taking them to the police HQ for further questioning.

Inside one the men’s cars, a grey Peugeot 307, police discovered two packs of drugs containing around two kilograms of cannabis resin.

Sources said that drug find was made close to the Maria Goretti Girls’ Secondary school in Tarxien.

An inquiry is being held, while the two men are expected to be arraigned on Monday morning.
