Jail time for Eritrean who injured policeman

The accused attempted to board a bus while drunk and became aggressive when the police arrived on site

An Eritrean man was handed a seven-month sentence for causing slight injuries to a police officer.

The incident happened on 24 October of this year, at around 6:30am at the Marsa Park and Ride. The accused, Kubrom Berhe Haile, was drunk and boarded a bus. When the bus driver told him to get off, he refused. The police were called on site.

He became aggressive, spitting at and causing slight injuries to the policeman.

The court found him guilty and sentenced him to seven months in prison and fined him €5,000.
