A Serbian man who has been wanted by police for the past four years in relation to his role in clashes that took place during a Champions League match between Valletta and Partizan Belgrade back in 2012, has been sentenced to six months in jail by Magistrate Monica Vella.

Tvm.com.mt has reported that 38-year old Ivan Radovanovic - who was wanted for causing trouble during the match and violently resisting arrest - was identified by the police after he recently sat for an interview with a Serbian newspaper about a business he has set up in Malta.

Radovanovic was arrested last Friday at his home in Bugibba. The man had set up a pie making business, which he was operating out of his home.

Investigations by police found that the man had been living in Malta illegally for the past two years and was also using a fake identity card.

Bernard Zarb, from government employment entity Jobs Plus, said that Radovanovic had not registered his business with the authorities and that this was not acceptable.

Radovanovic has admitted to all charges brought against him claiming that he was doing what he could to provide for his young daughter back home.
