Alex Borg presents PN's 2026 general election candidates
Nationalist leader Alex Borg says party's candidates will be working to protect young people, the elderly, workers, businesses, and families, adding that the party is determined and prepared to act on what has been promised
Alex Borg unveiled the Nationalist Party’s full group of candidates who will be contesting on the party’s ticket on Tuesday.
Borg explained Malta finds itself voting in an election that came a year before its time, pointing out that there is no ongoing international crisis that justifies the government’s choice to call an early election.
“This election was called to safeguard power for Robert Abela and the Labour Party (PL),” he said, insisting that the time has come for Malta to stop talking about red and blue, but to truly consider the national interests that connect people, instead of dividing them.
Borg said that the PN’s candidates will work to protect young people, the elderly, workers, businesses, and families, adding that the party is determined and prepared to act on what has been promised.
“We might not be perfect, but are prepared to offer a new way of doing politics,” he said.
He explained that throughout the early days of the electoral campaign, the PN has put forward concrete proposals that consider the long-term direction of Malta and Gozo, which aim to transform challenges into opportunities.
“This is the Malta of tomorrow that we need to build together,” Borg said. “This is the PN’s vision.”
Borg noted that a number of PN proposals are yet to be announced in the coming days, all of which have been put together by experts and professionals.
