PN pledges labour market modernisation fund
Opposition Leader Alex Borg points out that despite the government’s fanfare, Malta is facing serious economic challenges involving a shortage of skilled workers and excessive bureaucracy
Nationalist Party leader Alex Borg said that if elected to government, the PN will establish a fund to help modernise Malta’s labour market.
The fund would be dedicated to research, policy analysis, and the development of concrete solutions for the labour market, while addressing challenges such as the shortage of skilled workers, low productivity, work-life balance, and technological advances affecting both businesses and workers.
Borg announced a number of measures targeting social partners during a visit to UĦM Voice of the Workers in Floriana on Wednesday, insisting that a strong economy is measured by people’s quality of life and by how they are living every day.
The PN also committed itself to increasing financial assistance to social partners to ensure that such organisations have adequate resources to carry out their work in an effective manner.
Borg pointed out that despite the government’s fanfare, Malta is facing serious economic challenges involving a shortage of skilled workers and excessive bureaucracy. He insisted that these problems can only be solved if the country works together with a clear direction and a shared love for Malta.
He stressed that if elected prime minister, government policy would not be built only from the office of the prime minister but together with workers, businesses, unions, and social partners.
“This is the Fresh Start that the Partit Nazzjonalista wants to deliver for the country,” the PN said, advocating for politics which is built on respect, dialogue, stability, and national unity which makes sure progress in Malta is felt by everyone.
Also present for the meeting with UĦM Voice of the Workers were Nationalist Party candidates Joe Aquilina, Ivan Castillo and Errol Cutajar.
