[WATCH] ‘Turnout seems to favour Labour’ – former PN candidate Schiavone

Former Nationalist Party candidate Herman Schiavone says that the increase of 1.1% in the second district was due to the Mintoffian vote, which up until now was absent, and says that turnout figures seem to favour Labour.

Commenting about the turnout figures, Schiavone said that the pattern is "identical" to that witnessed during the last two elections.

"You have eight districts which registered an above-average turnout. If you analyse things district-by-district, it becomes clear that on traditional Labour strongholds - especially in the second district - you had increases in turnout."

He said that in the second district in particular, the increase amounted to 1.1%.

"I interpret that as being the Mintoffian vote which, up until the last election, it was still absent," Schiavone added.

"The probability is that the Labour Party will benefit from that."

The tenth district registered a drop in turnout," he said, adding that "possibly the most interesting one is the 12^th district given that there was a substantial drop too."

Commenting about the Gozo voter turnout figures, he said that while it did not drop by much, analysis could truly start when sorting begins.

"Speaking strictly about the turnout, it seems to favour the Labour Party," he said.
