Labour’s Alex Agius Saliba ranked fourth most influential MEP

Labour MEP Alex Agius Saliba has been ranked the fourth most influential member of the European Parliament in the EU Influence Index 2025

Labour MEP Alex Agius Saliba has been ranked the fourth most influential member of the European Parliament in the EU Influence Index 2025, published by communications agency Burson.

Agius Saliba, who serves as vice president of the Socialists and Democrats (S&D) group as well as Labour deputy leader, was also recognised as the most influential Maltese MEP and the leading figure within his political group.

The study by Burson evaluated MEPs according to several criteria, including their ability to shape the political agenda and influence decision-making, their leadership style within their parliamentary group, their level of engagement and responsibilities, their role in legislative drafting and implementation across EU member states, and their overall political experience.

The ranking highlighted Agius Saliba’s detailed work in the European Parliament and acknowledged his achievements in 2025. The study aimed to identify MEPs who have shown significant dedication and delivered important results in their parliamentary roles.

Reacting to the announcement, Agius Saliba said the recognition “fills him with energy and determination to continue working to improve the quality of life and working conditions of European citizens, particularly those of the Maltese and Gozitans.”

European Parliament President Roberta Metsola ranked 105th, Thomas Bajada ranked 108th, David Casa ranked 338th, Daniel Attard ranked 347th and Peter Agius 635th.
