Cyrus Engerer reveals widespread frustration among Nationalist MPs

Sliema deputy mayor and former Nationalist candidate Cyrus Engerer recounts how various Nationalist MPs contacted him to vent their own frustrations at the current PN administration.

Weekly newspaper Illum reports how Engerer says that his shift from the PN to Labour’s ranks provoked a number of attacks, yet also brought out support from many – including Nationalist exponents.

“There were attacks, and I understand the feelings of disappointment among many,” Engerer said. “However what struck me most were the various messages of courage from people who were in the PN, and others who are still today active in various PN organs and structures.”

“They told me that they were feeling the same thing,” Engerer told Illum, adding that among these were even MPs.

“Yes, there were various nationalist parliamentary members who told me that they were also irked by the PN, and expressed their support towards me and what I was doing,” he said.

WE ARE NOT STUPID AND TAKE IT FOR-GRANTED THAT ALL ENTERING POLITICS ARE OPPORTUNISTS AND SELF INTERESTED. IT JUST BOILS DOWN TO A QUESTION OF DEGREE...WHICH HE HAS SHOWN TO HAVE NOT PASSED AND STOOD FIRM. FOR NOW...THE FUTURE WILL TELL!

HOW DO YOU KNOW WHERE HE HILL CONTEST? MAYBE HE DECIDES TO CONTEST OUR 2ND DISTRICT WHERE THERE ARE MANY WHO WOULD WORK FOR HIM AND WELCOME HIM WITH OPEN ARMS...

I AM RIGHT NOW MUCH MORE WORRIED ABOUT THE PM AND THE PN PARTY'S MANDATE TO GOVERN THAN CYRUS'!!!!!!

If he resigns and seeks re-election it would give him more authority than he currrently has and it would enable him to gauge public opinion towards him and his future in politics. . Otherwise , as things stand he may risk being dismissed as an opportunistic politician whose move was motivated by his own self-interest in securing a position of influence in future.

@B right on IF I WERE BEING BULLIED I WOULD DO THE SAME THING. STAY PUT. IF THEY WANT WAR THEY GET WAR BACK, PUNTO E BASTA.
avatar
@B right on Quote:Emanuel - I wish Cyrus all the best and I think he would strengthen his position if he resigns from his current post and seeks re-election as an independent or PL councillor. Unquote: But that would be playing into PBO's hands! Why should he accommodate him?

Emanuel - I wish Cyrus all the best and I think he would strengthen his position if he resigns from his current post and seeks re-election as an independent or PL councillor. . He can't have his cake and eat it, he needs to have a mandate by the electorate for the new position he now occupies.

B right on HE DID THE RIGHT THING, ABDICATE AND FICKE ARE UNWARRANTED FOR A MAN WHO HAD TE TESTICLE TO SAY ENOUGH AND WENT BTO THE PL WHERE HE FEELS MORE AT HOME. IF THE PL DO NOT TRUST HIM OR TAKE HIM SERIOUSLY THEN THEY WOULD BE FOOLS, WHICH I DON;R THINK THEY ARE. HE IS AN ASSET THE THEM AND A HUGE LOSS TO THE PN. THAT IS THE FACT!!

A budding politician who has not only followed his conscience but, was courageous enough to take a course of action which is also highly controversial. This is far cry from some other MPs who openly criticized the government injustices but yet, still voted in line with the party, in a complete U-turn of their beliefs (?) Comparing these 2 course of actions, which type of politician would you rather have? How we all wish ( maybe even secretly ) that our politicians would show a bit of backbone, speak out for the electorate and vote without bias for the nation’s welfare. And yet when they do so, these actions are condemned unreservedly by the majority which clearly shows how immature we still are in things political. If anybody brought disgrace to the PN -and to nation overall – those responsible are, today, sitting in the higher echelons of the party itself, and are completely untouchable because of a warped electorate system.

The cracks on the PN's maduma are getting wider by the day.

KONSENTURI kbar fil Maduma.

I think he should have stayed with the party under whose name he was elected, then made a decision once his current mandate had expired and not abdicated his position. . He has weakened his position by appearing fickle, lacking tenacity and the wisdom to find solutions to difficult situations. . Does he honestly think PL would trust his judgement in future? . I'd still vote for him though as his heart is in the right place!
