Three people assisted at Ramla

Yesterday late afternoon, E.R.R.C. lifeguards gave assistance to three swimmers in difficulty at Ramla Gozo.

This happened at around 17.30 hours when the first person was towed safely to the shore by E.R.R.C. lifeguards. After fifteen minutes the lifeguards rescued another two swimmers in difficulty.  The swimmers were caught in strong rip currents and experienced swimming difficulties.

None of the casualties assisted needed further help.  The E.R.R.C would like to recommend swimmers to watch the colour of the flags hosted on the lifeguards towers before swimming.

The Lifeguarding service at Ramla is being run on a daily basis till the end of September.  The service is possible due to sponsorship from the Malta Tourism Authority to cover the running costs, Ministry for Gozo – ECO Gozo, to buy the necessary infrastructure.   Support is also being provided by  Transport Malta, Civil Protection Department and the Gaia Foundation.
