Government still silent on Isle of MTV cost

Government refuses to divulge how much it spent on the highly-published event, or provide a breakdown of expenses and who received them.

Weekly newspaper Illum reports how the Malta Tourism Authority has steadfastly refused to divulge how much the high-profile star-studded performance event has cost the Maltese taxpayer.

The report says that MTA is claiming that “the contract signed between Government and MTV specifies that the amount that is paid should be considered as commercially sensitive information and so the Government cannot publish this amount.”

MTA would only say that government is paying MTV a global sum that covers both production and advertising that is purchased over the course of the year on all MTV stations in Europe.
