Mellieha route amendments gain approval

Mellieha Local Council says Mellieha residents approve new routes and changes to old which provide more efficient and frequent service.

The Mellieha Local Council said that the changes made to the routes directly affecting Mellieha by the public transport system during the last few hours have been an improvement. “The change in services and new frequencies meant a substantial improvement for local residents,” the local council said.

The new 232 service was most significant as it began working on a Mellieha to Mater Dei Hospital. University students and other persons requiring the service from the hospital were provided with a more comfortable and efficient bus service when compared to passed weeks.

The increase in the 41 route frequency also registered improvement, according to the local council, where Mellieha residents also experienced improved services to go to the capital city at a more comfortable and frequent time.

The two routes were considered more complimentary to the existing routes, as were the X1 and X6, as well as the new 221 and 222 routes which replaced route number 11.

“The Mellieha Council will continue to follow the new routes in order to ensure that the service provided by the authorities will continually improve. The local council will remain available to receive public complaints and bring these complaints to the attention of the authorities concerned,” the local council said.

During the coming days, the local council said that it will distribute all route changes to Mellieha and Manikata resident to keep everyone adjourned.
