Family announces his death after a battle with pancreatic and liver cancer
Calvin Brincat, a young man known for his participation in the 2024 edition of HazZzard, has died after battling pancreatic and liver cancer.
The 32-year-old event planner and delivery worker from Birkirkara, was diagnosed with pancreatic and liver cancer.
His sister Naomi Brincat announced his death on Monday morning, paying tribute to his character and spirit. “The last three months were very difficult for us, but he supported us a lot and his sense of humour never left him until the end,” she said, describing her brother as a truly sensitive person with an extraordinary gift for kindness.
Brincat had appeared in the 2024 season of HazZzard before being diagnosed with cancer. When news of his illness became public, friends and members of the public launched several fundraising initiatives on his behalf, collecting more than €35,000 to support his treatment.
When Calvin announced he was ill, his friends and others began organizing different fundraising initiatives, resulting in over €35,000 collected for his recovery.
The HazZzard programme remarked on his death, describing him as one of those rare souls who didn’t just take on the world. "During HazZzard - The Quest, in the vast and untamed landscapes of Mongolia, he showed us what it truly means to be alive: to embrace the unknown, to push forward with heart, and to find wonder even in the harshest conditions."
