Hospice Malta hosts annual telethon on 25 April
Hospice Malta will host their annual telethon in support of their palliative services after seeing a rise in demand with nearly 1,000 new patients
Hospice Malta will host its annual 12-hour live fundraising telethon on 25 April from 11:00 to 23:00 in support of their mission to provide free palliative care across Malta and Gozo.
Funds raised during the telethon will support Hospice Malta’s wide-range of expanding services, inducing community care and day therapy programmes, along with the new St Michael Hospice headquarters, which will include a 16-room In-Patient Unit aimed at offering round-the-clock medical care.
“More families are reaching out to us every year,” said Chairperson Bernadette Bonnici Kind. “The telethon helps ensure we can continue to be there for everyone who needs us, free of charge.”
The NGO explained that they have seen an increase in demand for their services, with nearly 1,000 new patients turning to Hospice Malta in the last year, averaging three families a day.
In 2025 alone, Hospice Malta said it delivered 33,000 at-home sessions for patients, along with over 4,000 sessions of social and psychosocial support.
The NGO’s Day Therapy Unit saw over 400 patients who benefitted from services such as therapy, physiotherapy, and social work, as well as group sessions.
Hospice Malta said the live broadcast will feature real stories, live interviews, and moments that reflect the NGO’s impact in standing beside patients and families through some of life's most difficult times.
