Food warning issued on dried bean product by Bonito Dell’ Orto for pesticides

Authorities advised consumers to dispose of the product or return it to the store from which it was purchased

The Food Safety and Security Authority has published a warning on dried beans by Bonito Dell’ Orto.

The product must not be consumed since it contains the presence of a banned pesticide called ‘Haloxyfop’.

While consuming a contaminated product does not present an immediate risk, it could lead to health concerns when consumed long-term.

Authorities said consumers should not eat the product, advising to dispose of the product or return it to the store from which it was purchased.

The pesticide is not permitted for use in the EU
