PL and PN advertise Workers' Day meetings
The Labour Party will hold a mass meeting at Castille Square in Valletta, while the Nationalist Party will hold a mass rally near the Belvedere in Lija
As election fever takes hold of Malta, the two main political parties are promoting Workers' Day meetings scheduled for 1 May.
The Labour Party will hold a mass meeting at Castille Square in Valletta, with the event reaching its climax with a speech by Prime Minister Robert Abela.
This year’s celebrations will commemorate 100 years since Malta formally began celebrating Workers’ Day, PL deputy leaders Ian Borg and Alex Agius Saliba explained.
Starting at 4pm, the celebration will see performances by local singers and musicians. The party band will perform in the streets of Valletta ahead of the main event.
Meanwhile, the PN has placed billboards across Malta to promote its own meeting, which will kick off at 5pm near the Belvedere in Lija.
This comes as speculation on an imminent election is the highest it has been during this legislature. There is growing anticipation that the prime minister may use the 1 May mass meeting to announce the election.
