David Agius will not contest election
David Agius joins a list of current MPs who will not be contesting the general election
The PN’s former deputy leader David Agius will not be contesting the next general election.
Agius, a former Net TV anchor who later became MP, is ending his political after 25 years.
The PN MP first represented his party on the Attard Local Council in 2001, and two years later, he was elected to parliament for the first time.
Agius served as government whip during Lawrence Gonzi’s last legislature and later served as the Opposition’s whip after 2013.
David Agius was then appointed deputy leader for parliamentary affairs within the PN. In 2024, Agius contested the MEP election.
Agius is part of a group of MPs who will not be contesting the 2026 general election.
Among this group are Claudette Buttigieg, Ryan Callus, Ivan J Bartolo, Robert Cutajar, Chris Said, and Karol Aquilina from the PN's side.
Meanwhile, PL MPs, Aaron Farrugia, Michael Farrugia, Stefan Zrinzo Azzopardi, Chris Agius, Clayton Bartolo, and Roderick Galdes will not be contesting the general election, although Galdes seems to be fighting to change that decision.
