Eurostat indicates Malta energy prices among lowest in Europe
Malta has most affordable energy prices in the European Union when measured according to Purchasing Power Standards (PPS)
Malta's electricity prices are among the lowest in Europe, figures released by Eurostat for the second half of 2025 show.
The data shows that since the beginning of 2020, Malta has managed to keep energy prices stable while several European countries have experienced significant price hikes.
After taking into account household income and the cost of living, Malta ranks as the most affordable member state when compared to countries such as Romania and the Czech Republic, where prices are almost three times higher.
Reacting to the Eurostat data, Energy Minister Miriam Dalli said that at a time when many European countries are facing sharp increases and instability in energy prices, Malta has managed to keep electricity prices stable. “This reflects our long-term vision for energy, which focuses on protecting consumers while continuing to invest in cleaner and more sustainable energy sources,” she said.
