Net News’s Facebook page has been removed from the social media platform following a number of reports filed against the page.

PN leader Alex Borg confirmed on Monday morning that the page had been taken down after the reports were submitted, adding that the party was in contact with Meta over the issue.

Borg expressed solidarity with employees working within the PN’s media arm, and stopped short of blaming anyone for the removal of the page.

The page has since been restored.

PN candidate Beppe Galea described the social media ban as an attack against free speech and thanked Meta for restoring the page to Facebook.

He said the episode should serve as a "warning on how certain people are ready to try and silence the Opposition and independent media."
