Maltese manufacturer welcomes ban on recreational use of nitrous oxide
Ramdon Ltd is a Maltese company and one of of Europe’s leading suppliers of what is commonly known as 'laughing gas'
Ramdon Ltd, a Maltese company and one of Europe’s leading suppliers of technical gases, welcomed the recreational ban of nitrous oxide, describing the legislation as not only proportionate, but necessary.
Under the new regulations, nitrous oxide, commonly known as laughing gas, prohibits the importation, possession, use, distribution, storage, and sale of the product for recreational purposes in Malta.
Enacted under the Public Health Act, the legislation also explicitly protects the rights of traders and professionals operating within legitimate use categories, which include the industrial, medicinal, and pharmaceutical sectors.
“This regulation reflects the kind of targeted, evidence-based approach that we have consistently supported,” Ramdon Managing Director Ryan Buttigieg said. “It restricts a behaviour, as well as those abusively importing counterfeit nitrous oxide products while preserving the legitimate professional uses this industry serves.”
