PL leadership confirmation vote begins at General Conference

The General Conference will close on Thursday with speeches by Abela, Borg, Agius Saliba, and PL President Alex Sciberras

Prime Minister Robert Abela and Labour Party Deputy Leaders Ian Borg and Alex Agius Saliba voted to confirm the party’s leadership at the close of the first session of the PL General Conference.

The conference is being held between Tuesday and Thursday to confirm Abela as party leader, Borg as deputy leader for parliamentary affairs, and Agius Saliba as deputy leader for party affairs.

Voting will continue on Wednesday between 4pm and 7pm at Gozo’s Labour National Centre in Ta’ Sannat, as well as from 9am to 8pm at the Labour National Centre in Malta, where the votes will be counted.

The General Conference will close on Thursday with speeches by Abela, Borg, Agius Saliba, and PL President Alex Sciberras, who is presiding over the conference.

The conference was addressed by PL members Gabriel Sciberras, Marlene Cini, Charles Mangion, Mario Cutajar, Deborah Schembri, Ramona Attard, and Michael Falzon.
