Maltese board game company wins industry’s top award

Mighty Boards has become the first Maltese company to win the Kennerspiel des Jahres, regarded as one of the board game industry’s most prestigious awards.

“This is an incredible milestone,” the company said on Facebook, thanking the Spiel des Jahres jury for recognising Rebirth.

Founded nine years ago by Mark Casha, Gordon Calleja and David Chircop, Mighty Boards publishes the tile-laying game, which was designed by renowned board game designer Reiner Knizia.

Set in a dystopian future following the collapse of civilisation, Rebirth tasks players with rebuilding the world and restoring harmony between humanity and nature.

Mighty Boards also announced that a sequel to Rebirth is in development, with further details expected to be revealed towards the end of summer.
